Position: Pre-Op/PACU Nurse – OrthoNC ASC
Location: Wendell

Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina is seeking a full-time, experienced Pre-Op/PACU Nurse to join our growing team at the Ortho

NC Ambulatory Surgery Center. In this vital role, you’ll provide high-quality, patient-centered care in both the pre-operative and post-anesthesia care settings, supporting safe and efficient surgical experiences in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and provide pre- and post-operative nursing care
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including IV initiation and safe medication administration
  • Assist anesthesiologists with regional anesthesia blocks within RN scope of practice
  • Monitor patients’ recovery from anesthesia and provide effective airway management
  • Assess and manage post-operative pain, nausea, vomiting, and other complications
  • Provide wound assessment and management to support proper healing
  • Manage patient complications and emergencies in the pre- and post-operative phases
  • Maintain and document controlled substance inventory
  • Utilize aseptic technique and infection control principles
  • Accurately document patient care and responses in accordance with medical record policies
  • Communicate significant patient information to the medical team in a timely manner
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and QAPI activities
  • Attend required in-services, staff meetings, and maintain annual competencies
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and make quick decisions
  • Strong Assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Support a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, leadership, and ASC staff
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize and manage direct patient care
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Professional, friendly, and supportive approach to patient and team interactions
Required Education & Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current, active North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with an emphasis in Pre-Op/PACU
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, assist with patient transfers, and perform CPR if necessary
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
  • Specialty certification in peri-anesthesia or perioperative nursing (CPAN, CAPA, CCRN)
  • Willingness and ability to cross-train to the Operating Room
  • 40 hours per week, 10-hour shifts
  • No weekends or on-call responsibilities
  • Clinical and professional environment utilizing standard surgical equipment and technology
