Inventory Control Clerk – American Woodmark

Job PurposeThe Inventory Control Clerk / Putaways is responsible for maintaining inventory integrity, primarily in the assembly departments and rack locations. The role requires solving short‑term issues (e.g., correcting on‑hand quantity) and long‑term issues (e.g., identifying root causes). The Clerk will identify, count, and label putaway pallets during changeovers, interacting with material handlers, supervisors, quality, leads, and production workers. This position reports directly to the Materials Supervisor.
EssentialJob Functions
- Identify parts using drawings and measurements.
- Utilize JDE system and learn Oracle for upcoming transition.
- Audit pallet quantities and part numbers for accuracy.
- Print and read drawings using engineering system.
- Access and read picking lists.
- Validate on‑hand inventories for putaways.
- Print pallet labels using RFGen and RFSmart scanners.
- Work with Quality Control to ensure scrap transactions are performed timely on non‑performing raw material.
- Work with supervisors to ensure value‑stream inventory is managed properly for materials made against completion of Work Orders.
- Maintain 5S in all areas and work to improve inventory processes.
- Scheduled overtime may be required.

- 1–3 years in inventory control in mid‑size manufacturing.
- Experience with JDE, Oracle or MRP systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong attention to detail, basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to analyze information and be a process thinker.
- Work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Able to bend and lift parts over 25 pounds.
- Team player who adapts well to multitasking.
- Will learn all aspects of inventory flow to understand production practices.
- Flexibility to cover other inventory‑related functions as needed to support production.
