Position Overview

As a Sanitation Team Lead, you will support the Sanitation Supervisor in guiding team members on the proper techniques of cleaning production equipment, machines, and work areas of our food manufacturing facility. You will handle and prepare cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and chemical concentrations, and store them safely. The Sanitation Team Lead is expected to report any contamination issues and safety concerns that may arise as part of the sanitation process.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to team members to execute cleaning and sanitizing to an effective level as directed by Sanitation Management.
  • Partner with sanitation management to troubleshoot sanitation problems and recommend changes to improve policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.
  • Ensure that the necessary sanitation oversight and resources are available to fully support operations.
  • Implement and promote chemical/sanitation safety programs and safe work practices through active participation in safety meetings.
  • Support the development of sanitation workers through effective training.
  • Alert senior management to major issues.
  • Perform daily sanitation of all processing lines.
  • Promote a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe workplace for all.
  • Ensure product safety and defense in the plant.
  • Maintain and clean water lines.
  • Coordinate all daily sanitation activities within the plant.
  • Follow all GMP and HACCP procedures related to cleanliness and product safety.
  • Manage and report the need for supply of cleaning chemicals, ensuring compliance with OSHA and all plant regulations.
  • Assist operations in maintaining the highest rating possible on all audits and inspections.
  • Support all Food Safety initiatives.

  • Instill a culture of accountability within the sanitation team.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills including root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective action.
  • Work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Be self‑directed and able to work independently as well as in groups.
  • Effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Train, maintain, and promote a safe work environment.
  • Read and understand HACCP, FDA, and OSHA requirements as needed.
  • Work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.
  • Be flexible to work weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
  • Communicate effectively, appropriately, and respectfully with all members of the organization.
  • Adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and lead others through change.
  • Possess knowledge of sanitation processes and procedures (preferred).
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Prior leadership experience or equivalent leadership training (preferred).
Working Conditions
  • Work performed in a food processing plant with high noise levels and storage coolers/facilities.
  • Position requires working around processing plant equipment.
  • Must be physically capable of working extended hours if needed, standing for long periods, operating processing equipment, and lifting up to 80 lbs.
