General PurposeUpholster products and/or related parts in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles to satisfy the customer and deliver high quality products on time. Assist and train other upholsterers on new or existing products. Problem solve with team members and pursue continuous improvement. Maintain safety for self and others. May learn additional functions through cross-training in other departments as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Upholster Miller Knoll products and parts according to standardized work.
- Assist and train other upholsterers on new and existing products.
- Commit to overtime requirements and complete required paperwork accurately.
- Inspect parts during upholstery to ensure compliance with quality criteria.
- Follow corporate, plant, and department safety guidelines and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Maintain flexibility to meet team, department, and plant goals.
- Participate in improvement activities within the department or other departments as appropriate.
- Provide feedback to other departments and management on process improvements.
- Understand and apply quality requirements as specified.
- Education/
Experience:
One of the following: (1) High school diploma or equivalent (GED), or (2) work experience demonstrating performance competency. 5+ years of experience in upholstery. - Skills And Abilities:
Advanced upholstery skills across styles; basic math; ability to read and interpret instructions and work documentation; ability to collaborate within and across teams; adaptability; reliable attendance; flexibility with hours as needed. - Physical Demands:
Ability to bend, twist, and stand for up to 10-12 hours; ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
