Sow Farm Manager

Located in Council, Bladen County NC

Full-Time position with excellent benefits package

ADA Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, walk, stoop, and bend. Ability to speak, hear, read, and write.

Responsibilities include total operation of a company sow farm including training/developing employees, implementing corporate personnel/procedural policies, land, and nutrient management, controlling operating costs, providing an overall quality product to the farms customers.

• Manage all activities/processes related to farm management and operations. Schedules/perform according to all standard procedures and policies set out by company technical manuals.
• Manages financial performance by controlling costs, budgeting, business, and financial planning, and tracking financial activity via P&L review.
• Plans, sets and Monitors goals, then communicates results to production manager.
• Develop subordinates by leading, planning (short and long term), managing, coaching, always mentoring and providing a positive professional image.
• Ensures all staff move through the Training and Certification process.
• Establish and maintain open communication with all farm staff, management, other departments, external customers and suppliers, and the local community to identify potential problems and initiate improvements.
• Manages and administers all Human Resources/employee relations functions relating to farm management such as compensation, benefits, records, vacation, performance reviews, etc.
• Ensures the operation is functioning in an environmentally responsible way by adhering to all EMS requirements and practicing approved land and nutrient management techniques. Functions as a company steward of resources.
• Ensures that the farm-working environment is safe, by providing safety equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditions by meeting DOL/OSHA rules and regulations.
• Ensures all equipment, machinery and vehicles are accounted for and properly maintained.
• Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Murphy Family Ventures subscribes.
• Performs all other activities and responsibilities as defined by manager.
