Location: Bayboro

The Senior Center Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all programs, services, staff, and operations at a senior center. This role ensures that the center provides a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment that meets the social, educational, recreational, and wellness needs of older adults in the community.

Key Responsibilities Program Development and Management
  • Design, implement, and evaluate a variety of programs and activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being for seniors.
  • Organize educational workshops, health screenings, recreational events, trips, and social services.
  • Monitor program participation and adjust offerings based on feedback and emerging needs.
Staff and Volunteer Management
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate center staff, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Develop staff schedules and assign duties to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture.
Budget and Administration
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget; monitor expenditures and seek cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records including attendance, incident reports, and grant documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Community Outreach and Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, government agencies, and service providers.
  • Promote the center through community events, social media, newsletters, and outreach efforts.
  • Identify and secure funding through grants, donations, and sponsor ships.
Facility Oversight
  • Oversee maintenance and safety of the building and grounds.
  • Ensure a clean, accessible, and safe environment for participants and staff.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Public Administration, Recreation, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in program management or administration, preferably in a senior or community center setting.
  • Supervisory and budget management experience required.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant management software.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of older adults.
  • Typically works in a senior/community center setting.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours for special events.
  • May involve light physical activity, such as setting up for events or moving materials.
