Purpose of the RoleThe Utility Technician II provides essential support to site operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This position plays a foundational role in ensuring production areas, equipment, and grounds are kept in optimal condition to support smooth and efficient operations. By performing routine cleaning, assisting with maintenance, and adhering to safety and environmental procedures, the Utility team member helps uphold the overall functionality and compliance of the facility.

As a Utility Technician II, you take pride in learning the process of creating quality compost, mulch, and soil. You contribute directly to the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of the facility—fundamental foundations that keep daily operations running smoothly. You pay close attention to detail in cleaning and preparing work areas, helping prevent equipment issues and ensuring a safe environment for all team members.
By assisting with maintenance tasks and following operational procedures, you help reduce downtime, improve product quality, and support a sustainable operation that transforms organic material into valuable soil, compost, and mulch products.
- Operate skid steer to clean up material and sweep bays, using attachments or manually with pick or shovel.
- Keep grounds, ramp, screening plant, and shop clean and organized, performing yard work such as weed‑eating, occasional painting, sorting tools or parts, digging with a shovel.
- Perform maintenance on skid steer, including filter changes, oil and coolant monitoring, and all preventive maintenance.
- Act as relief Front End Loader Operator and perform all required functions when skills allow.
- Process bay cleaning and preparation.
- Conduct general housekeeping and ground maintenance.
- Perform equipment cleaning and routine maintenance; assist as required.
- Follow standard operating procedures and work safely.
- Perform other tasks assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency in operating skid steer, weed‑eater, or water truck.
- Willingness to work outdoors in variable weather and around strong odors.
- Able to follow instructions and learn environmental handling procedures.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor.
- Valid driver’s license.
Regular use of hands and arms to handle, reach, and operate tools, materials, and equipment. Frequently standing, walking, climbing, or balancing; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. May lift or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Work may require awkward or confined positions as necessary. Vision requirements include distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to identify hazards in low‑light conditions using lighting equipment.
