The Embedded College Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) serves as the primary administrator for the technical and operational deployment and administration of systems that support CAS. The role acts as a technical lead for incidents, service requests, change requests, and problems, collaborating with Division of Information Technology (DoIT) staff to ensure seamless support for faculty and staff.
The Specialist provides primary consultation and business relationship management with CAS, DoIT, and vendors, translating DoIT security standards, policy, and best practices for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Administer and deploy technical systems for CAS.
- Serve as technical lead for incidents, service requests, change requests, and problems.
- Collaborate with DoIT staff to provide seamless support to faculty and staff.
- Provide consultation and business relationship management between CAS, DoIT, and vendors.
- Assess business objectives with CAS Dean and define user needs.
- Ensure technology installation, configuration, and integration with classroom and teaching‑lab technologies.
- Communicate and translate DoIT security standards, policy, and best practices.
- Plan, implement, and release roadmaps; explore future system uses.
- Analyze new features and rollouts.
- Engage in strategic planning, projects, and professional development activities.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Bachelor's degree and 1‑2 years’ experience administering and supporting Linux and Windows systems and working with networking principles.
- Demonstrated business relationship management skills.
- Analytical skills for identifying and resolving technical problems and setting direction.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to non‑technical clients.
- Excellence in customer service.
- Confidence in managing multiple simultaneous initiatives with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly dynamic team environment.
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity in applying technology to teaching and learning.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT field.
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience administering Linux and Windows systems.
- Experience with virtual server environments and software implementations.
- Experience with Git Hub Classroom administration.
- Experience with ESRI/Arc Administration.
- 1+ year of high‑level programming experience (Python, C#, JavaScript, etc.).
- Experience supporting classroom technology and AV systems.
- 2+ years of experience supporting latest Apple, Microsoft, and Linux applications and operating systems.
- Experience with project management principles and documentation.
- Experience working in a Higher Education environment.
