Position: Release Train Engineer / Agile Delivery
Location: Liberty

Release Train Engineer (RTE)/Agile Delivery 12 Month Contract (W2 ONLY, NO C-C) Liberty, NC (Onsite) Expected Deliverables

The RTE is accountable for organizing and facilitating PI Planning events and ensuring PI Objectives are documented and aligned. They coordinate Scaled syncs such as Scrum of Scrums and Metascrums, facilitate cross-team system demos, and lead Inspect & Adapt workshops, including the documentation of outcomes. The RTE provides program-level reporting on feature progress and risks, manages and escalates impediments and risks through an Impediment escalation framework, coaches Scrum Masters to improve agile maturity, and ensures readiness for all program-level events and governance needs.

Success is measured by PI predictability (planned vs. delivered objectives), the rate of dependency resolution, effectiveness in managing and escalating risks, trends in Scaled health metrics (including team alignment and performance), and the timely execution of system demos across teams.

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Release Train Engineer to support and scale Agile delivery across multiple cross-functional teams. This leadership role is responsible for guiding and aligning 12 disparate teams, each working on the same larger multi-year program, through Agile practices, executive reporting/read-outs, enabling successful delivery of each of the 12 team’s initiatives, mentoring other Scrum Masters, and aligning strategic and tactical delivery with organizational objectives.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record of Agile facilitation, delivery execution, stakeholder management, and Agile coaching at scale when dropping into in-flight large-scale programs that need course correction. Day 1 activities will be focused on making sense of current state and quickly establishing a path forward towards successful execution and then delivering on a regular, predictable cadence across all teams.

Key Responsibilities Agile Team Leadership & Facilitation
  • Serve as the overall delivery lead, in the role of Lead Scrum Master, for the deliverable of 12 teams, directly leading, coaching and mentoring four Scrum Masters in their ceremonies (stand‑ups, planning, reviews, and retrospectives).
  • Foster a high‑performing, self‑organizing team culture rooted in Agile principles and continuous improvement.
  • Remove impediments, coach team members, and ensure Agile best practices are followed consistently.
Delivery Oversight & Coordination
  • Drive end‑to‑end delivery across multiple Agile teams or programs, managing dependencies, risks, and timelines.
  • Align team outputs with product and business priorities, ensuring delivery is predictable, transparent, and on time.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and leadership on sprint/release progress, risks, and mitigations.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, QA, and Dev Ops to ensure cross‑functional alignment.
Agile Coaching & Practice Leadership
  • Lead Agile maturity assessments and coach teams through Agile transformations or scaling efforts.
  • Champion Agile ways of working and facilitate workshops, training sessions, or Agile bootcamps when needed.
Metrics, Tools, and Process Optimization
  • Establish and maintain Agile metrics to track team performance and delivery health (velocity, cycle time, throughput).
  • Optimize team use of tools such as Jira, Confluence.
  • Drive process improvements through regular feedback loops, retrospectives, and both executive and line leadership collaboration.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience as a Senior Product Owner/Scrum Master
  • Experience leading Agile teams in complex or regulated environments (e.g., manufacturing, healthcare, finance).
  • Proficient with Jira and Agile metrics/reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross‑functional teams and managing complex multi‑year program delivery.
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Advanced Agile certifications such as CSP, ICP‑ACC, SAFe SPC, or PMI‑ACP.
  • Experience with scaled Agile frameworks.
