Job DescriptionBartender’s/Barman primary responsibility is to exceed all expectations of all internal and external guests. Facilitating an excellent guest experience in the outlet by ensuring exceptional products and services at all times. As a bartender, you will provide guests with the full experience that encompasses engaging and personalized service from beginning to end of service. Your role is to turn their moments with us into memories by delivering Fairmont’s service promise and the highest level of brand standards.
Requirements- Must possess outstanding guest services skills, professional presentation and sophisticated communication skills.
- Proficient in the English language (verbal & written); second language is an asset.
- Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever‑changing environment.
- Must be flexible in terms of working hours.
- Must be physically fit.
- Must have sound knowledge of beverages and cocktails.
- Demonstrate Fairmont luxury standards in all interactions.
- Mix and prepare a wide range of beverage items.
- Greet all guests and colleagues in a warm, sincere manner, adopting a positive attitude to keep team spirit high.
- Ensure all guests leave the outlet with a lasting positive experience and impression of the outlet.
- Be punctual, efficient and courteous—maintaining a pleasing and helpful attitude towards each guest.
- Take pride in appearance and personal hygiene, ensuring uniform and shoes are always of the highest standard.
- Show genuine desire to provide an unparalleled guest experience.
- Handle guest feedback appropriately and, if unable to correct the situation, inform supervisors or managers to facilitate service recovery.
- Check and set up bar and equipment, place bottles correctly, and prepare adequate mise‑en‑place for the shift.
- Report to duty punctually, in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards.
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of Restaurant Policies & Procedures and Service Standards as outlined in the Fairmont Standards.
- Make and serve drinks in accordance with liquor laws.
- Maintain a clean and safe work and dining environment.
- Have full knowledge of available menus of the restaurant.
- Ensure safety in the bar, understanding and adhering to the company’s policies regarding fire, hygiene and safety.
- Maintain an accurate and reasonable inventory, completing nightly and monthly inventory counts.
- Order, stock and control all necessary par stock levels.
- Ensure licensing hours and laws are strictly followed.
- Monitor freezers and refrigerators; report any problems to technical services.
- Ensure costs are kept to a minimum by controlling wastage and breakage.
