Under the supervision of an RN, the Patient Safety Companion:

• Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients identified as safety risks.
• Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, keeping patients safe by continuous observation.
• Reports observations in physical, mental, or emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Communicates with the RN caring for the patient throughout the shift.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (desired).
• Certification as a Surgical Technician and/or graduation from an approved OR Technician program (required for certified position).
• Affiliation with the Association of Surgical Technologists, national or local level.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.

Haywood Regional Medical Center is licensed for 154 beds and offers a comprehensive array of services and 11 multi‑specialty physician clinics. The facility includes a 54,000 square foot Health and Fitness Center with personal training, indoor pool, massage therapy, and nursery services. It is located near Maggie Valley, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
