UNC Health is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join its Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) team in Butner, North Carolina. The Recreational Therapist will be responsible for providing a full range of recreational therapy services to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses, dual diagnoses, substance misuse, and complex behaviors.
Responsibilities
Assess patients’ needs, interests, and abilitiesDevelop and implement individualized treatment plansProvide therapeutic interventions, such as group and individual therapy, games, and activitiesDocument patients’ progress and response to treatmentCollaborate with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nursesParticipate in professional development activitiesServe as a clinical educator for practicum and intern recreational therapy studentsQualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreational Therapy, which includes an internshipLicensed as a Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL)Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)Experience working with children and adolescents with mental health issuesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational and time management skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience working in a hospital-based mental health settingExperience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and dual diagnosisAdditional training and/or certifications in evidence-based practices with these populations#J-18808-Ljbffr
