Medical Laboratory Scientist I (MLS or MT) - Generalist
Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs clinical laboratory tests by standard operating policies and procedures. Understands method principles, performs quality control & calibrations, performs preventive maintenance, and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits.
- Prepare patient specimens as required for laboratory testing. Perform laboratory tests specific to department.
- Monitor test results to assure test quality and validity.
- Communicate test results in a timely manner. Enter and retrieve data from laboratory computer systems.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and environment.
- Demonstrate appropriate, caring behavior in the workplace, treating patients, their families, visitors and staff with respect and dignity.
- Work alternate shifts as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, phlebotomy.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or a biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited institution. Bachelors degree with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry, obtained within or in addition to the degree is also acceptable.
- For non-CLS/MT degrees, one year of experience in a clinical laboratory is required.
- Certification as MLS, BB, C, H or MB by ASCP or other nationally recognized certifying agency.
$27.22 - $39.68
Other Information- 40 hours per week
- Monday - Thursday (8 am - 5 pm)
- Friday (8 am - 12 pm)
