EMT Driver - Air Care, Ground TransportWhat you'll do:
Works as a driver and member of the Critical Care Transport teams, transferring patients between facilities. Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle, including maintenance of mission ready status, obeying laws and regulations of the highway as well as the applicable state Office of Emergency Medical Services. Maintains necessary certifications/licensures, skills, continuing education and complete competency checks as required.
We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- North Carolina EMT certification required
- 1 year experience driving emergency vehicles preferred
- BLS required
- Advocate Health approved driving course to be completed within 90 days of hire
- Must have valid driver's license and qualify as insurable by Advocate Health insurance carrier requirements for driving Air Care vehicles

- Recognize and treat any medical condition with appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of all State and Department Polices and Protocols including (BIAD) Blind Insertion Airway Device and medications approved by NCOEMS and the Medical Director.
- Ensures that the ambulance is clean, washed, and kept in a neat and orderly condition each shift.
- Determines that the vehicle is in proper mechanical condition by utilizing daily check-off sheets and reporting any known issues.
- Ensures that the ambulance patient care area is clean, restocked, equipment in working order, and kept in a neat and orderly condition at the beginning of each shift and when necessary to maintain a mission ready status when serving in a patient care role.
- Must be capable of handling equipment challenges and failures without support of internal hospital resources.
- Obtains necessary signatures and paperwork for each transport
- Thoroughly documents medical care and treatments of patients in the EHR.
- Must maintain annual compliance in education related to specialty area and/or primary base location outside of typical Paramedic practice.
