The Triage Clinical is the main link between the patients and the Provider. The Triage Clinical provides care and related services to patients in the medical centers.
EssentialJob Duties
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate patient care quickly and efficiently with clinic team members.
- Talks directly to patients on the phone and in person and directs them to the appropriate place based on their current situation.
- Performs short evaluations of the patient’s situation via phone or in person, to estimate the severity of illness and/or injury, including learning about chief complaints to determine patient needs.
- Determines urgency of seeing the patient based on brief assessment and on familiarity with a patient’s condition and history, conferring with Provider.
- Sends those with high-risk chief complaints, such as chest pain and abdominal pain, to the ER immediately or arranges for an ambulance after conferring with the Provider.
- Set up appointments for patients who do not need to go to the ER but need to see a Provider, or arrange for a Front Desk Receptionist to make the appointment.
- Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, radiation, and safety procedures. Ensure HIPAA compliance during conversations.
- Display a courteous, empathetic, and respectful attitude.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all clinical skills.
- Provide patient education if appropriate and as directed by Provider.
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of all conversations/encounters with patients.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist with the completion of patient-related forms/paperwork.
- Assist with clinic coverage as/or needed for appropriate patient care.
- Attend all required staff training courses and meetings.
- Flexibility and proficiency with multitasking.
- Maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands.
- Respect for the confidentiality of all aspects of patient care and business matters of the Hot Springs Health Program.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Abide by the policies and procedures of the Hot Springs Health Program, located in the employee handbook. Abide by all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Education:
High School graduate or GED - Experience:
Graduate of Medical Assisting Program preferred. Minimum of one (1) year triage experience preferred. - Other: BLS/CPR Certified. Valid N.C. Driver’s License, proof of auto liability insurance, and dependable transportation.
