Position Summary
The RCP will be expected to focus in critical care areas, participate in research, lead patient education activities and function as a mentor to the AAS degree RCP's. The RCP IV will have advanced knowledge, critical thinking skills, professional development, and critical care expertise of Respiratory Care procedures. They will be involved in assisting with case management and the discharge planning processes.
They will be called on to function as chronic pulmonary patient navigators.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification is required
- Associate Degree or higher in an approved CoARC program for Respiratory Care
- Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire and is maintained yearly
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required
- American Heart Association ACLS is required
- If working in the Children s hospital you are required to have AHA PALS and NRP in place of the AHA ACLS and you must have completed the NBRC NPS exam by 12 months from your orientation end date
- For non-medical center Respiratory care departments AHA BLS and ACLS are required. AHA PALS and NRP are required at 6 months from hire date.

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season. Its campus includes four ORs, a medical/surgical unit, a labor & delivery suite with a dedicated caesarian section OR, a full rehabilitation therapy center, cancer treatment and radiation therapy center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
