Pay Range $50.05 - $75.10

Explore an exciting opportunity with AHWFB Pediatric Gastroenterology Department as we eagerly welcome a skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic inpatient/outpatient team in Winston‑Salem, NC.

The APP will primarily support the diverse inpatient and infusion needs of the service, with key responsibilities including inpatient admissions, daily rounding and census management, and responding to new consults. The APP may be expected to provide inpatient coverage for at least two weekends per month in the future. In addition to inpatient duties, the APP will hold 3–5 half‑day urgent add‑on clinics and provide cross‑coverage for infusion services as needed.

What You'll Do:

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA/PNP will play a key role in team‑focused patient care, conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Using medical decision‑making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  • Collaborate with medical team when needed for effective team‑based care.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
  • Potential for and encouraged to precept students and/or medical learners.
  • Uphold AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.
Physician Assistant Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program;
    Master's Degree preferred.
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA.
  • Pediatric experience preferred but will consider new grads.
  • BLS and PALS are required.
Nurse Practitioner Requirements:
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required.
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care.
  • Pediatric experience preferred but will consider new grads.
  • BLS and PALS are required.
