Electrical Maintenance Control Specialist

Job Summary

Sealed Air is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Controls Specialist to join our Lenoir, NC team. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing production equipment to ensure seamless operations. You will collaborate closely with operations teams to implement control sequence logic, fail-safe states, and process/equipment recovery sequences. Additionally, you will drive the deployment of control architectures, standards, and system integration to meet manufacturing requirements.

Pay rate: $31+ per hour depending on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of production equipment as needed to always keep lines operational.
  • Work closely with operations to implement control sequence logic (both time-based and event-based), fail-safe states, and process/equipment recovery sequences.
  • Implement specified field devices to accomplish desired process/equipment functions, compliant with site standards.
  • Accurately estimate timeframe to complete assigned project work once scope is defined and complete work to agreed-to timelines.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team to solve difficult automation problems, resolve project-related issues, and develop understanding of technical/process requirements critical to system success.
  • Drive deployment of defined control architectures, control system standards, and system integration to satisfy process and manufacturing requirements.
  • Interface with external system integrators and machine builders to troubleshoot equipment and implement resolutions.
  • Participate in project fabrication, offline integration/testing, drawings and documentation, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel, and technology transfer.
  • Report to management on assigned project activities on a pre-determined basis.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
  • Dismantle/disassemble defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts using specifications/blueprints and appropriate tools.
  • Calibrations and adjustments on various device and production control systems.
  • Understand facilities, mechanical/electrical systems and their components; competent in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Assist other maintenance and production team members to support plant goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Two-year technical degree, with focus in EE, CS, Mechatronics, or similar area.
  • Minimum 3 years' equipment/controls experience.
  • Familiar with state-of-the-art technologies in: control systems integration, controls architecture, PLCs, motion control systems, electro-mechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision, safety systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to support production and improvements of fully integrated machine and motion control, automation, and process machine systems and solutions.
  • Experience with PID control loop tuning and techniques.
  • Experience working with IT & process engineers to implement control sequence logic (time-based and event-based), fail-safe states, and process/equipment recovery sequences.
  • Experience with graphical user interface and human machine interface.
  • Must be able to program in ladder logic or equivalent.
  • Experience in checking/verifying electrical control panels.
  • Installation and troubleshooting knowledge of electrical systems including 480V and below.
  • Demonstrated proficiency or certifications for diagnosing & troubleshooting 24V control systems/devices.
  • Able to interface with production line workers and supervisors with a customer-service mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement driving efficiency, profitability, or safety improvements.
  • Basic math, reading, and computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel, Outlook).
  • Manufacturing safety program familiarity (PPE, LOTO, Arc Flash).
  • Ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking; able to work effectively as part of a team.
