The Electrification & Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future.

Position

We are seeking an Electro-Mechanical Assembler Technician for our Protection and Automation Panel Assembly Workshop (PA PAWS) team on 1st shift in Wendell, NC. As an Electro-Mechanical Assembler Technician, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring, and preparing Industrial Control Panels (ICPs) that power automation and control systems for electrical substations. These panels support medium-voltage distribution equipment and are essential to protection and automation applications.

Shift Hours: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Hourly Rate: $20.36

Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Completed High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking
  • Must be able to lift parts or sub-assemblies that weigh up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment within the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or in progress, if able to work full-time)
  • Wake Tech - Engineering AAS
  • Wake Tech - Electrical Systems Technology AAS
  • Wake Tech - Electronics Engineering Technology AAS
  • Residential or commercial electrical education or certifications
  • Experience in testing, inspecting, and troubleshooting electrical equipment
  • Ability to conduct thorough final inspections on all electrical equipment, ensuring precision and attention to detail
  • Experience with various test equipment, including Hi-pot testing
  • Proficiency in reading schematic drawings, layouts, and wire lists for circuit troubleshooting
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform sub-assembly and final mechanical assembly
  • Wiring with high accuracy and workmanship, including proper stripping, crimping, routing, and dressing techniques
  • Work with large power cables, ensuring correct crimping methods, and assemble components on panels per layouts or drawings
  • Record job transactions, read BOMs, follow layouts and assembly drawings
  • Read and interpret schematic and wiring diagrams to support proper assembly and wiring of equipment
  • Set and use torque wrenches correctly, adhering to developed processes and seeking ways to improve
  • Adhere to Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety policies, with a commitment to continuous improvement and be a strong team player
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management
