Siemens Electrification & Automation is seeking a Protection & Automation University Relations Manager to drive and expand strategic partnerships with key universities across the United States. The University Relations Manager serves as a highly visible technical ambassador, responsible for building long-term academic relationships, co‑developing curriculum, enabling hands‑on laboratories, and positioning Siemens Protection & Automation technologies at the center of university power, SCADA, and digital grid programs.

This role plays a critical part in early‑talent pipeline development, ensuring students graduate with hands‑on experience using Siemens technologies and are well prepared to join programs such as the Protection & Automation Engineering Development Program (PA EDP) or pursue other roles within the Protection & Automation organization. By embedding Siemens technologies in academic programs, the role increases long‑term industry exposure as graduates apply that experience throughout their careers.

This role is based in Wendell, NC.

You’ll make a difference by:
  • Support and grow strategic university partnerships and lab development initiatives at key institutions with strong power and energy programs, such as NC State University (NCSU), Arizona State University (ASU), Texas A&M University (TAMU), Clemson University, College of Charleston, and the University of Idaho, with target universities evolving over time based on business and talent needs.
  • Maintain and expand partnerships with technical and community colleges, including Wake Technical Community College, to support technician‑focused pipelines, hands‑on training, and workforce development initiatives aligned with the Protection & Automation Technician Development Program (PA TDP).
  • Design and co‑develop course structures for undergraduate and graduate engineering curricula.
  • Develop hands‑on laboratory experiments aligned with real‑world applications in power systems, automation, and protection.
  • Define, curate, and mentor technical student project topics (capstone, research, senior design).
  • Collaborate with university faculty to align learning outcomes with industry needs.
  • Serve as Siemens’ primary academic relations contact to foster long‑term partnerships.
  • Coordinate deliverables, timelines, and collaboration milestones.
  • Translate Siemens technical requirements into academic‑ready material.
  • Review and provide feedback on lab manuals, course content, and project deliverables.
  • Deliver guest lectures and technical presentations as part of academic programs.
  • Participate in university career fairs and student engagement events by technically communicating Siemens solutions, laboratory environments, and academic use cases aligned with Protection & Automation programs.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with multiple teams within Protection & Automation, including Customer Solutions & Innovation (CSI), Customer Technical Partners, and Solutions Engineering, to align academic initiatives with business and technology strategies.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years experience in projects with multi‑stakeholders reporting or academic initiatives.
  • Ability to understand engineering fundamentals including AC/DC schematics and system architecture drawings.
  • Familiarity with academic program structures, ABET‑style outcomes, and engineering assessment methods.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% domestically.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
