Location: Locust
Engineering Technician (Level) I – United Protective Technologies
As our Engineering Technician at UPT, you will work with our team of engineers supporting and carrying out the day‑to‑day technical, hands‑on tasks of our research and development (R&D) projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Conducting laboratory testing as required
- Testing hardware and systems
- Troubleshooting system issues and assisting with data acquisition and interpretation
- Generating data for reports
- Assisting with the assembly of our mechanical and electrical systems
- Working under the supervision and guidance of our Program Managers, Engineers, and Research Scientists
- Working with other areas of the organization to ensure quality standards, safety regulations, and customer service needs are met
- Other duties as assigned and required to complete the R&D projects
- Must wear appropriate PPE as needed and adhere to all safety standards
- Physical job duties
: lifting parts (solo lift 50 lbs, team lift 50+ lbs.), bending, moving throughout all areas of UPT
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must possess technical analytical thinking and detail‑oriented skill set
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision
- Experience with test and measurement
- Experience working with scientific laboratory equipment
- Computer competency (Word, Excel, MS Office, and Teams)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills
- Experience working as part of multifunctional teams
- Must be able to pass a medical evaluation for a respiratory fit test (occasionally wearing a ½ face respiratory mask for certain projects)
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Qualifications:
- Experience with electronics and machine tools
- Ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance
- Experience with tribological testing and analysis
- Knowledge of advanced nanocomposite coatings; military experience in a technical capacity is encouraged to apply
- High School Diploma/Equivalent
- Associate of Science in related field or equivalent experience
- 1–3 years of experience
