Electrical Engineering Technician at United Protective Technologies
As an Electrical Engineering Technician at UPT, you will play a key role in driving the development and testing of electrical equipment for multiple projects, working with a multidisciplinary team of research and development engineers and support staff. You will work under the direction of our senior engineering staff and program managers, with occasional travel between UPT sites (Charlotte/Locust). The role involves office work with hands‑on electrical engineering in labs or warehouses.
Duties/Responsibilities- Ability to complete a technical project independently
- Review customer specifications and requirements and develop designs to best support them
- Evaluate supplier components and subsystems to meet requirements
- Assemble and test prototypes to retire key development risks
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with all stakeholders
- Provide technical assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
- Experience working with program management and engineering to meet product specifications and engineering standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all stakeholders
- Experience prototyping and testing both AC/DC, power, digital circuits, and controls electronics
- Experience in integration and testing of electrical systems and sensors
- Experience in Microsoft Office Software
- Ability to multitask and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be a US citizen
- Associate’s degree with 4+ years of relevant hands‑on experience in assembly and testing of analog/digital circuits, control systems, and power conversion
- Understanding of SBIR and military R&D processes preferred
- Experience with MIL‑STD design and testing preferred
