Safety Coordinator I

UFP Industries – Pallet One, Inc., Siler City, NC

Job Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, facilitation, and supervision of the facility's safety programs and initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect facility operations to ensure safe job practices, proper use of protective equipment, and operational machine/process guards.
  • Investigate and facilitate investigation of all accidents and near‑miss occurrences, identify trends and causes, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Work with management to develop safety programs and incentives as appropriate.
  • Conduct new‑hire training and ensure new employees understand safety practices and policies.
  • Provide training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Chair the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure the facility maintains the required number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR and keeps safety and medical supplies in inventory.
  • Conduct and certify all forklift training.
  • Coordinate annual fire inspection tours and any planned/unplanned tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor facility hearing conservation program.
  • Coordinate work duties for employees on medical restrictions.
  • Maintain communication with immediate management, Human Resources, and third‑party claims administrators.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and other required reports.
  • Prepare regular and special reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school graduate.
  • Zero to two years of experience in safety or woodworking operations.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business‑related software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR and knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
