Job Description

Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision, NC Certification/License in K-12 Administration and Supervision, minimum of five years teaching experience, and three years administrative experience.

  • Reports to the Principal
  • Read The First Six Weeks of School & the middle school Responsive Advisory Meeting book and is familiar with elementary and middle school Responsive Classroom practices
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the school’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
  • Maintains open communications with students, staff and families
  • Conducts research and stays informed of curriculum and instruction best practices, trends, and educational innovations
  • Assists in establishing school/grade level curriculum objectives that align with the school’s mission, Responsive Classroom and Project Based Learning, and develops a plan for the implementation and evaluation of these objectives
  • Assists the Principal in the safety and security of all students and staff and reports any issues and concerns to the Principal
  • Point of contact by teachers and staff for behavior and discipline issues and concerns
  • Assists the Principal in the compliance of all building safety drills and inspections
  • Assists the Principal regarding the accountability for assessment growth and proficiency for all students, teachers, and grade level teams, Kindergarten - 8th Grade.
  • Assists the Curriculum Director and the Principal to ensure that all grade level Curriculum Scope, Sequence, and Pacing are aligned with the standards (Reading, Writing, Phonics & Word Study, Math, & Project Work - Science & Social Studies)
  • Assists the Administrative Team in the Implementation of an ongoing program of curriculum evaluation
  • Assists the Principal with staff meetings, as needed
  • Attends the weekly with the Curriculum Director at the Grade Level Teams, the Specials Team, the Exceptional Children’s Team, ELL, & Interventionists to discuss curriculum, review data and the weekly lesson plan outline that is shared with the Admin Team through Google Drive
  • Assists the Principal in the development and implementation of a plan that ensures assigned members of the Admin Team review data, interventions and intervention logs, and the weekly lesson plan outlines that are shared by ALL teachers through Google Drive and holds members accountable
  • Reviews data and the weekly lesson plan outlines that are shared by ALL teachers with the Admin Team through Google Drive
  • Assists teachers and staff in the handling of day-to-day problems of instruction and acts as a secondary resource person for teachers and staff regarding school policies and procedures
  • Assists the Principal in regards to meetings with staff and groups to promote interdisciplinary programs, clubs, events, etc which also includes meeting and coordinating with members of the PTO
  • Assists the Principal in the development and distribution of the weekly newsletters, as needed
  • Assists the Principal to ensure that family and staff receive important school information in a timely manner, such as project celebrations, PTO events, fundraisers, athletics, etc. via the weekly newsletter
  • Assists the Principal with coordinating the scheduling of the School Improvement Team meetings and participates in the development and revision of the School Improvement Plan
  • Assists the Beginning Teacher Coordinator with the Beginning Teacher program, as needed
  • Assists the Principal in the development of a yearly professional development calendar, school daily schedules, and school events based on school improvement, assessment data, and staff needs and presents the schedules/calendar to the Managing Director for review and final approval
