Position Summary: The SOAR Instructor (Adjunct) will provide engaging, supportive, and student-centered instruction to adults with intellectual and physical disabilities enrolled in the SOAR program. This role focuses on teaching functional academic skills, vocational skill development, and self‑advocacy strategies that support student success in the classroom, workplace, and community. The SOAR Instructor will monitor student progress, document performance, and complete all program-related records and reports required by the Program Director to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities
Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.Communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.Work collaboratively with the College’s support services to identify and address the students’ academic support needs.Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the College’s learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.Qualifications
- Required Education/
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Applicant should possess flexibility to teach students with diverse abilities and interests.
- Preferred Education/Experience/
Skills:
- Two years of experience teaching adults with intellectual disabilities desired.
- Degree in Special Education.
