Responsibilities

  • Provides classroom instruction to students through lectures, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing according to established meeting patterns.
  • Assess Electrical student learning outcomes and demonstrate the use of the results to make improvements to course/program.
  • Provides feedback to students regarding course progression in Voltage Identification, Calculations, and Digital, Voltage, Ohms meters (DVOMs) and Safety procedures.
  • Records and maintains suitable class records which show student membership hours, attendance and grades in accordance with deadlines.
  • Utilizing technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others and facilitate learning.
  • Prepare students for opportunities in construction and industry settings.
  • Inform the Dean of Workforce and the VP of any student issues (academic, attendance, behavior, cheating, and plagiarism) as soon as possible.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with current North Carolina Electrical License.
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience in the Electrical/Construction industry.
  • Teaching and/or industry training experience in Electrical topics in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars.
  • Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  • OSHA Certifications.
  • More than 3 years of relevant industry experience in the construction industry.
  • Postsecondary teaching experience.
  • Experience with commercial construction processes.
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
