Adjunct Instructor: Cosmetology In Person

Overview

Roanoke-Chowan Community College is looking for an adjunct instructor to teach on-site at the Northampton location in Jackson, NC. The instructor will be responsible for teaching Cosmetology courses in person. The instructor will work a set schedule during the day on multiple days each week, with potential to work in the summer.

• Provide high-quality, effective instruction in assigned courses, in-person, on a temporary, part-time basis.
• Teach Cosmetology courses within the Cosmetology Program (High School Pathway via CCP) in person.
• Foster a safe and orderly learning environment, grade assignments (input and maintain grades in Moodle gradebook), provide relevant and adequate feedback, return student work promptly, and counsel students on their grades and progress.
• Guide, manage, and effectively facilitate the class.
• Develop classroom materials that align with course goals, design the course curriculum and schedule, and use assessment techniques to enhance learning and teaching.
• Maintain accurate attendance and academic records, including syllabi, and submit all required forms (administrative and academic) on time.
• Ensure consistent communication with the direct supervisor and with students. Complete any mandatory or necessary training as assigned.

• Associate’s degree, a current Cosmetology license, and Cosmetology Instructor Licenses.
• Knowledge of the cosmetology industry, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training and fashion concepts, and operating salon equipment.
• Self-starter and team player willing to take on additional duties as assigned; participate in ongoing professional development and campus activities as required.
