Overview

Role Description/Criteria St Bernadette's is seeking an enthusiastic Mandarin Teacher. This position is a two day (0.4 FTE), Fixed Term, position for 2026 with the possibility of being extended. (Preferred days Tues/Wed or Wed/Thurs) We are seeking a passionate and dedicated LOTE Mandarin Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver a high-quality LOTE Mandarin education program that engages students and encourages the use of Mandarin Language.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement a vibrant and developmentally appropriate Mandarin program aligned with the Victorian Curriculum (Languages – Chinese).
  • Use the MACS Vision for Instruction to ensure explicit teaching, high expectations, and structured learning sequences.
  • Ensure learning is active, collaborative and culturally responsive through the lens of MACS Vision for Engagement.
  • Use assessment data and digital tools to track growth and differentiate instruction.
  • Employ positive behaviour management strategies that promote active participation and curiosity in language learning.
The successful candidate will be/have
  • suitably qualified to teach Mandarin
  • exemplary with their classroom management skills
  • committed to building positive relationships with children and creating learning environments where all are valued and challenged
  • committed to Catholic Education and to the safety and wellbeing of all students
  • a designer of engaging lessons that build confidence to support learners with English as an additional language.
  • strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • committed to ongoing learning and professional development
  • prepared to be involved in extracurricular school activities
  • hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
