Position Overview

Full‑time assistant professor position to direct the graduate science education program in the Department of Biology, which includes teaching online and campus courses and introductory biology courses such as Principles of Biology. Responsibilities also include service on departmental and university committees.

• Primary Purpose of Position:
  Teach in Graduate Science Education program and undergraduate Biology program; scholarship related to obtaining grants, research with students and colleagues; service in department, university, profession, and community.

• Teach in Graduate Science Education program and undergraduate Biology program.
• Develop and deliver online and campus courses in the program and in introductory biology (e.g., Principles of Biology).
• Conduct scholarship related to obtaining grants, research with students and colleagues.
• Provide service on departmental and university committees.

• Ph.D. in an appropriate area of science education and/or biology, or a minimum of 18 hours of approved graduate coursework in science education.
• Current or eligible for a North Carolina Professional Teaching License in science (or equivalent). Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• At least three years of teaching experience in science in grades 6‑12 in public schools (preferred).
