Experience:

  • Current, continuing North Carolina Teacher Licensure (Elementary Education required; Reading Specialist or Literacy Coach certification preferred)
  • Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience in elementary grades required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of structured literacy, NC MTSS, and data-driven instruction
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coach K-5 teachers in the design and delivery of instruction ground in the NC Standard Course of Study and Science of Reading principles.
  • Support implementation of structured literacy practices aligned with NC DPI’s early literacy initiatives.
  • Facilitate grade-level PLCs focused on data analysis, curriculum planning, and effective instructional strategies.
  • Model lessons, co‑teach, and conduct observation‑feedback cycles that build teacher capacity.
  • Promote and integrate Leader in Me principles into instructional practices to cultivate leadership and agency in students.
  • Implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions, primarily in reading and math, using NC MTSS guidelines.
  • Analyze screening and progress monitoring data to identify students needing additional support.
  • Deliver small‑group, targeted instruction based on the Science of Reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension).
  • Collaborate with teachers, intervention teams, and families to support student learning and monitor intervention effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for progress monitoring and MTSS documentation requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, write, operate a computer, hand‑held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
