Math Curriculum Instructor; Position

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Chair of General Studies, the instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and advancing academic excellence and student success. The role includes teaching day classes, adhering to departmental course guidelines, maintaining required records, and participating in departmental, divisional, and college-wide advising, recruitment, and assessment activities. Additional duties will be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Education:

Master’s degree with a concentration in Mathematics.

Experience:

Minimum five years of positive work history; two years of teaching experience preferred, particularly at a community college.

• Academic Tasks: delivers high‑quality instruction, sets clear learning goals and measurable outcomes, uses effective assessments, provides timely feedback, and maintains an accurate, current syllabus.
• Administrative Tasks: supports development of course objectives, learning outcomes, and instructional materials; participates in departmental and college meetings; follows institutional policies, procedures, and deadlines.
• Learning Environment: creates an engaging, inclusive, student‑centered atmosphere that encourages participation, models enthusiasm, promotes critical thinking, and addresses student needs with flexibility and fairness.
• Student Advising: provides academic advising per college guidelines, helps students understand prerequisites, course options, and program pathways, assists with schedule planning during registration, and monitors progress toward academic goals.
• Professional Characteristics: maintains current expertise, demonstrates fairness and effective communication, collaborates with colleagues, participates in professional development, and embraces new instructional ideas.
• Campus Leadership: supports the campus mission by participating in committees and service activities that benefit the community.
