The Psychology Department at Western Carolina University invites applications for a 9‑month tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a projected start date of August 2026. The role is based primarily on the main Cullowhee campus.
The teaching load is 3‑3 (Fall/Spring), comprising undergraduate and graduate courses, and may include support for the Specialist in School Psychology (SSP) and Clinical Psychology graduate programs.
Potential courses include advanced developmental psychology, psycho educational assessments, academic interventions, school‑based mental and behavioural health, pre‑school assessment/intervention, child and adolescent psychopathology, child development, and behavioural interventions. Graduate practicum supervision will be available through the McKee Assessment and Psychological Services Clinic.
Candidates are expected to maintain a meaningful program of research that engages both undergraduate and graduate students, with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses as outlined above.
- Supervise practicum students at the McKee Clinic.
- Develop and sustain a research program aligned with departmental and university goals.
- Participate in departmental service, including committee work and program development.
- Engage in community outreach and school‑based research initiatives.
- Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in School Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited program.
- ABD candidates will be considered if degree is conferred by 08/01/2026.
- Experience in school psychology or clinical child psychology, including comprehensive psychological assessment.
