Job Overview
General Dentistry Faculty – Community Service Learning Center – Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor – East Carolina University – Spruce Pine – full‑time – provide general dentistry services in an underserved community.
Responsibilities- Provide primary dental care to eligible patients and supervise dental students and AEGD residents.
- Develop and implement clinical protocols consistent with standards of care; maintain quality assurance and infection control.
- Mentor AEGD residents and fourth‑year dental students; supervise their clinical education and community service activities.
- Collaborate with local, state, and regional health care organizations and faculty to ensure the CSLC is a state‑of‑the‑art educational and care delivery facility.
- Manage the CSLC’s annual budget and financial sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and Commission on Dental Accreditation standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings, dental school activities, and community outreach programs.
- DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree.
- Complete eligibility for a North Carolina dental license.
- Experience operating a general dentistry practice, preferably in a rural community.
- Broad knowledge of dental education issues and ethics.
- Advanced education in dentistry (AEGD, GPR, or military residency) preferred.
- Three years’ experience in general dentistry or a dental educational environment.
- Experience building teams, developing solutions, and proficiency in all disciplines of general dentistry.
