• Perform complex and routine inspections to evaluate whether appropriate materials and construction processes are used and if construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Use higher‑grade equipment and perform complex calculations during construction inspection.
• Work under limited supervision or direct supervision depending on demonstrated knowledge for the assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Understand the design of the construction to be inspected and document and communicate the results to the supervisor.

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer, smartphone, or related applications.
• Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, contract provisions, and specifications.

High school diploma or equivalent. Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete (if required by the client or jurisdiction) are preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. Six months of domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
