Position: Work-Based Learning/Customized Training Specialist
Location: Roxboro

Overview

The purpose of this position is to assist with Work-based Learning and NCEdge customized training related responsibilities; this includes data entry, assisting with WBL orientation and registration, maintaining student’s work-based learning documentation, maintaining WBL web page and marketing content, helping to place students in a WBL environment, requesting fund action request (FAR) within banner workflow, preparing and handling training registrations and personal service agreements, entering employee training records in customized training spreadsheet to prepare for annual report, meeting with company representatives to determine training needs, getting quotes and estimates from training sources and vendors, and assisting with special projects as needed.

Essential Duties
  • Meet with business and industries to set up site work for WBL and to discuss company training needs.
  • Meet with faculty, students, and industry partners on a regular basis
  • Will be responsible for answering incoming phone calls, taking messages, and directing calls to the appropriate person. May also greet visitors and provide them with assistance or directions.
  • Managing correspondence:
    This includes sorting and distributing incoming mail, emails, and phone calls. May also be responsible for drafting and sending routine correspondence, such as emails, memos, or letters, on behalf of your supervisor or the WBL and customized training department.
  • Scheduling and coordinating meetings:
    This will involve coordinating participants’ calendars, sending invitations, preparing necessary materials or documents, and visiting local businesses and industries.
  • Data entry and record keeping:
    Maintaining WBL databases and customized training trainee spreadsheet, entering data into spreadsheets or other software, and organizing files or records. This can include updating student information or assisting with registrations for WBL and requesting funding and setting up training dates.
  • Review and maintain all documentation for audit reviews and annual reports.
  • Providing general administrative support:
    This can involve a wide range of tasks, such as photocopying, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Supporting special projects:
    May be assigned to assist with specific projects or initiatives within the organization.
  • Maintaining confidentiality:
    May handle sensitive information, such as student records, financial data, or confidential business information. It is important to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling such information.
  • Maintain current sites available for WBL student opportunities and companies that may qualify for CTP projects.
  • Ensure all documentation is compliant with state audit and annual reports.
  • Provide orientation and registration assistance for WBL students
  • Track students who are nearing their WBL course timings and assisting with proactive planning and placement.
Additional Duties
  • Maintains WBL web page and marketing content and access to Banner Workflow site
  • Working with business and industry to locate WBL opportunities and to complete required documentation
  • Offer an assortment of specialized training designed to affect numerous businesses with the service area of the community college.
  • Assist with offering employer services such as career fairs, career support, recruiting and pre-screening for employers.
  • Participate in industry visits with Person and Caswell counties partners as requested.
  • Knowledge or regional workforce trends that impact service area. Share workforce trends/needs with Deans, VPs, and President.
  • Other duties as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position supervises and evaluates adjunct instructors needed for training purposes.

Associate degree required from a regionally accredited institution.
Bachelor's Degree preferred
. Two years of experience in business, education, or community-based organizations preferred.

Valid driver’s license
