Description
The purpose of this position is to maintain records of accounts receivable and oversee a part-time college cashier for all incoming cash and/or checks from external sources and for all auxiliary operations.
Essential Duties- Review and approve daily cash receipts and DCA packets
- Prepare daily cash analysis reports
- Dispatch appropriate cash certification reports to Raleigh
- Ensure that all accounts receivable are current
- Create sponsors and control charges paid by third parties
- Maintain files on students authorized to engage in charge transactions
- Maintain restrictions on student accounts
- Handle general public tactfully on a daily basis while remaining sensitive to their needs
- Serve as liaison for E‑Campus Bookstore
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
- Disburse and maintain records for all petty cash accounts
- Maintain records for all returned checks from students and customers deposited to the college bank accounts
- Coordinate collection with the Senior Accountant
- Process and control all bad‑debt accounts receivable
- Process 1098 tax forms
- Process financial aid refunds
- Process student refunds for curriculum and continuing‑education programs
- Maintain records/balances on student short‑term loans
- Process return to Title IV reports
- Conduct budget reviews, RJE monthly, AJEs as needed
- Serve as cashier for all cash, checks, credit cards, and money orders for the college (as scheduled)
- Cover bookstore as scheduled
Education and Experience
Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Accounting experience in the private or public sector; specifically in accounts receivable for at least 2 years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Experience with accounting software applications
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, word processing, and email
