School Resource Officer – Daytime Assignment (Part-Time)

City of North Canton Assigned to St. Paul Catholic School

The City of North Canton is accepting applications for a School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to St. Paul Catholic School. This position offers a consistent weekday, daytime schedule during the school year and is well-suited for an OPOTA-certified law enforcement professional seeking a stable assignment focused on safety, presence, and positive community interaction.

Position Overview

This is a City position providing law enforcement services in a school setting. The SRO serves as a visible safety presence, supports emergency preparedness, and builds professional relationships with students and staff in coordination with school administration and City leadership.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Part-time, daytime schedule during the school year
  • Maximum pay rate: $30.34 per hour
  • Paid training
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response
  • Address safety concerns and incidents in coordination with school administration and City supervision
  • Foster positive, age-appropriate interactions with students
  • Enforce applicable laws, policies, and City procedures
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current OPOTA certification, or the ability to recertify (required)
  • Prior law enforcement experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a school environment
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgment
  • Professional demeanor and commitment to community-oriented policing
