Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our construction and development company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective cash flow management across multiple projects and entities. This role partners with project managers, executives, internal and external partners to support budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and strategic financial decision-making.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure timely and accurate general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Support year-end audit and tax preparation in coordination with external CPA firms

• Oversee job cost accounting, including tracking costs, commitments, change orders, and profitability by project
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and percent-complete reporting
• Analyze budget vs. actual costs and provide variance explanations
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost forecasting

• Develop and manage annual operating budgets and project budgets
• Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections
• Monitor cash flow across operating companies, development entities, and projects
• Assist with lender reporting, draw requests, and construction loan compliance
• Support financial modeling for new development projects and acquisitions
• Track development costs, capitalization, and asset transitions from construction to operations
• Assist with financial analysis related to feasibility studies and investment decisions

• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting efficiency
• Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual obligations

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, if applicable
• Work closely with project managers, operations, and executive leadership
• Serve as a financial resource to leadership for strategic planning and decision-making

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Prior experience in construction, real estate development, or project-based accounting strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore Financials, Yardi, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling and forecasting
• Understanding of construction lending and draw processes is a plus
