Job Summary
  • Protects the organization's employees, properties and all items of value on premises from any preventable harm or danger
  • Develops security policies and procedures that comply with government guidelines and standards
  • Conducts investigations to protect organization assets
  • Responds to contingency events, including bomb threats, sabotage and severe weather conditions through on‑site security force or with the assistance of government law enforcement agencies
  • Recommends hiring of outside security contractors as necessary and may oversee contract guard force

Essential Functions
  • Manages security protocols and ensures they are followed for the protection of the organization's property, assets, and people.
  • Maintains and may implement safety and security protocols for assigned facilities.
  • Managing the coordination and administration of security clearances.
  • Ensures processes are in place for preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, and evicting trespassers.
  • Review and/ or respond to requests for safety/security assistance from employees.
  • May coordinate with local law enforcement agencies when necessary.
  • Takes proactive steps and assesses risks to ensure a safe and secure working environment to staff and visitors.
  • Leads the investigation of crimes with leadership support.
  • May conduct educational activities related to safety and crime prevention.
  • Assigns or oversees the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of security staff including security guards.
  • Provides specialized security for and monitors access to limited and restricted access areas.
  • May also act as a liaison between site security and IT to ensure proper access is maintained for high security areas.
Required Qualifications
  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 2-4 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Decision‑making skills. Oral and written communication skills. Problem/situation analysis. Judgement. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines. Attentiveness.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
