Do you have dreams of maximizing your career while developing display systems for the flight decks of large commercial aircraft? Come join our team as a Systems Engineering Co-op during Summer/ Fall 2026 in the Avionics Air Transport Displays department. Working with other systems and software engineers, you will have the opportunity to develop flight deck display systems used on platforms such as the 737 MAX, 747, 777X, and 787 Dream liner.
Join our team and work together to define requirements and integrate, validate, and verify the functionality of software in our onsite engineering lab.
Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June
- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).
- Work with an integrated team of Collins engineers to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions.
- Decompose customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generate verification criteria and tests.
- Review artifacts, such as requirements and tests, that others produce and implement changes that others identify when peer reviewing artifacts that you have produced.
- Be paired with a “copilot”, or technical mentor, and work alongside the “copilot” and other systems engineering team members to experience a real industry project.
- Gain knowledge on performing technical planning/estimating, system integration, and verification and validation for total flight deck display systems.
- Learn about and apply industry standards and processes, such as ARP-4754 and DO-178.
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
- Some experience with and/or coursework on at least one software development language such as C, C++, Python, or Java
