OverviewGIS Technician
Salary Range $99,964 - $124,360 Annually (DOQ)
This position is responsible for entering, collecting, coordinating, updating and maintaining data within the District’s Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS), along with construction plan research, field investigations, and map creation.
Duties- Collect, compile, edit, refine, digitize, and validate geographic data from a variety of sources.
- Create hard copy and computerized interactive maps and applications for District use.
- Assist with the development of workflows and automations that streamline processes and data integration.
- Inspect and validate sewer CCTV data to ensure compliance with District standards; import into District’s asset management program.
- Provide user support on maps and software as needed.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records and District information; adhere to District IT Security Standards.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements and Abilities- One year experience in CAD/GIS software, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience; technical certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution in GIS, or closely related field preferred.
- Two years employment in an office computer environment.
- Working knowledge of civil engineering surveying, drafting, mapping, computations, writing and interpreting legal descriptions, the principles of land use planning, water and sewer infrastructure, global navigation satellite systems, plan metrics and orthophotography.
- Proficient in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, ESRI ArcGIS, and AutoCAD software products.
- Demonstrated abilities in algebra and geometry.
- Able to write, communicate, and interface effectively and clearly with supervisor, coworkers, and the general public.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license, with a driving record acceptable to the District and its insurance carrier.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
