HJF is seeking a Digital Innovations Manager to guide and execute the strategy for delivering innovative solutions that achieve business objectives, solve business problems, business process redesign (BPR) and maximize operational efficiency. The incumbent will work closely within HJF, engage internal and external customers, and act as the liaison between HJF G&A, HJF programs, and HJF IT Services to ensure high quality technology services.

This position will be in support of the newly established USU Digital Technology Innovation Center (DTIC).

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners.

HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

  • This role focuses on leading a team to execute digital innovation initiatives, managing specific systems, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to broader technology strategies.
  • Leads, oversees, and mentors a team of IT professionals responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and supporting specific applications, systems, or user devices.
  • Supports USU's technology initiatives and provides technical assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Fosters a team culture that encourages innovation, adaptability, and continuous learning.
  • Organizes and leads discovery sessions with customers and partners to understand their business processes, environment, needs, and functional requirements.
  • Manages the screening, evaluation, and response to user and customer inquiries related to current and new technology initiatives.
  • Develops technical solutions and approaches for fulfilling business requirements and enhancements, including the acquisition of new technology tools.
  • Collaborates closely with IT Project Managers and USU leadership to manage and troubleshoot technology initiatives and help determine project priority.
  • Implements and participates in technical change management processes for assigned systems and applications, working to minimize disruptions and negative impacts.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations and lifecycle for assigned systems (e.g., network components, specific servers, applications, or user devices).
  • Ensures these systems are reliable, available, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies (like AI, automation, cloud tools, or IoT) that could improve team projects or operations.
  • Monitors technology trends and reports relevant findings and potential uses to leadership.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of the technology roadmap, focusing on assigned systems and projects.
  • Manages project-specific budgets and tracks expenses for assigned initiatives, including monitoring.
  • Provides input for budget planning, detailing resource needs and costs for team projects and systems.
  • Participates in relevant IT committees or working groups, representing the team's perspective and needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor, including participating in required training.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required

  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to work with a wide variety of program management personnel as well as IT personnel of varied technical knowledge.
