Cook's Helper - Per Diem - Day | Palisades Medical Center, North Bergen, New Jersey

Assists the Chef in the preparation and cooking of all foods.
Responsibilities- Assists on a daily basis in cutting, washing and preparing meats and vegetables for cooking.
- Prepares daily all cold foods in bulk, such as tuna fish, chicken salad, and egg salad for cafeteria and patients.
- Sets up and cleans daily all produce, vegetables and fresh fruit for the salad bar in the Cafeteria and Physician's Dining Room.
- Prepares daily all jellos, puddings and custards for patient and cafeteria use.
- Cooks roasted meats for patient and cafeteria use on a daily basis.
- Ensures delivery of excellent customer service, contributing to positive patient satisfaction scores for the department and Medical Center.
- Supplemental duties and responsibilities:
- Works on the patient’s tray line, serving soups and pureed foods.
- Covers a cook's position on weekends and for vacations.
- Maintains a clean, safe, neat work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, GED, or GED equivalent programs.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred:
- Minimum of 2 years cooking experience in a hospital setting.

CompensationMinimum rate of $17.24 hourly. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and does not reflect the full value of our total rewards package.
