Job Description- Assistant Nurse Manager Maternal Child Health - Full Time Nights

- Leadership/Human Resource Management in collaboration with the Nurse Manager:
- Participate with recruitment and retention strategies
- Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees
- Participates with unit goal creation reflective of hospital goals, mission and vision
- Participate or lead evidence-based practice projects or research
- Participate or lead unit-based or hospital-based shared governance committees
- Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions
- Complete employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior
- Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations
- Contribute to and/or monitor unit orientation process
- Model employee recognition; foster cultural competence and fairness
- Escalate nursing labor/management issues as needed
- Financial Management:
Collaborates with the Nurse Manager for efficient fiscal management of departmental activities - Participates in Payroll, Staff Scheduling and daily staffing needs
- Assists in department budget management; monitors unit business intelligence
- Maximizes care efficiency and throughput
- Understands value-based purchasing, revenue, and reimbursement relationships
- Monitors unit staffing productivity and adjusts staffing as needed
- Quality and Safety/Performance Improvement:
Optimizes patient and family experience, leads multidisciplinary rounds, monitors performance improvement, engages in quality projects and root cause analyses, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports staff education and competency
- General
Job Functions:
Interprets and communicates policies; serves as a role model; identifies cost containment measures; serves on-call; assumes special projects; performs other duties as assigned; adheres to organizational competencies and standards
- Education, Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Required:- Associate degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing
- BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
Note:
Applies to team members hired on or after February 2025. Advanced MSN may satisfy BSN requirement. - Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in respective specialty or equivalent (internal candidates may qualify per policy)
- Ability to learn quickly, strong accountability, teamwork, commitment to ongoing education, and patient-focused care

Skills And Abilities
Preferred- MSN
- Supervisory or charge nurse experience
- Licenses And Certifications Required
- New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse License
- AHA Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program (within 2 years of hire)
