Job Description
The Ultrasound Technologist at the Breast Center is responsible for performing specialized technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound, utilizing high-frequency sound waves to aid medical personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities. The role requires expertise in breast ultrasound techniques and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound procedures according to departmental protocols and complete exams in a timely manner.

• Conduct portable ultrasound exams and assist physicians with ultrasound-guided breast procedures.

• Evaluate the technical quality of images and maintain accurate records of ultrasound examinations.

• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, explaining the processes and ensuring their comfort.

• Calibrate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness.

• Provide technical instruction and assistance to students and medical residents.

• Adhere to patient care standards specific to the population served, considering their unique needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be R.D.M.S. registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

• Graduate of an approved Ultrasound School with a minimum of 2 years of training in Allied Health/College.

• Proficient in breast ultrasound techniques and familiar with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).

• Must be able to perform CPR and have knowledge of ultrasound equipment operations and safety protocols.
