Job Description & How to Apply Below

Overview

More than 135 years ago, we started with core values that never go out of style: listen, learn and help businesses and individuals reach their goals. These core values shape our culture, and we were recently Great Place to Work Certified because of our outstanding workplace culture and employee experience. As well, our financial strength and stability are key reasons Forbes named us one of the Best 100 Banks in America for the ninth consecutive year.

With more than $16 billion in assets and 135 branch locations throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California, we understand our role in the economy and take that responsibility seriously. In addition to offering a source of capital to personal banking clients and businesses of all sizes, we place a high importance on employee volunteerism and donate millions of dollars each year to community organizations.

As a Small Business Consultant, you’ll be a key partner in helping clients make confident financial decisions. You’ll provide personalized guidance, support daily banking needs, and build trusted relationships that strengthen the communities we serve. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, solving problems, and creating meaningful impact every day.

In this role you'll
  • Act as a leader in delivering an exceptional client sales and service experience within the branch.
  • Support branch operations while providing ongoing training, mentoring, and coaching to team members.
  • Grow and maintain a strong consumer and business lending pipeline through relationship-building and referral development.
  • Conduct outbound calls, networking activities, and assist in presenting banking solutions in the community.
  • Consult with clients to identify needs and recommend bank products and services that deepen their financial relationship.
  • Identify and facilitate referrals to areas such as Commercial Lending, Treasury Management, Mortgage Lending, and Investment Services.
  • Engage proactively with clients to educate, resolve issues, and maintain high levels of satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Hold client appointments—scheduled and walk‑in—to understand needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Open new accounts, maintain existing accounts, process changes, and resolve account-related concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, security standards, and regulations.
  • Assist with branch lending activities by educating clients, completing applications, and preparing documentation.
  • Process routine financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments.
  • Balance your cash drawer accurately and consistently.
What we're looking for
  • You have a High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • You have 4 or more years of banker, client relationship consultant, or related sales experience with established goals (Required). An equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
What helps you shine
  • You bring advanced knowledge of retail banking products, policies, procedures, and systems.
  • You understand complex account types such as Trust, Power of Attorney, Guardianship, and Court‑Blocked accounts.
  • You can analyze client credit and financial information to identify needs and recommend solutions.
  • You have functional knowledge of consumer and business lending best practices.
  • You excel at selling, cross‑selling, and generating referrals through strong networking.
  • You build trust quickly through exceptional client service, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
  • You stay organized, multitask effectively, and adapt quickly to client or branch needs.
  • You’re comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and other business communication tools.
  • You can lift and move objects up to 25 pounds as needed.
