Alterations Specialist – David’s Bridal

Join David’s Bridal as an Alterations Specialist. This role focuses on completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of the store, reporting to the Store Manager, and providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service to every guest.

Essential Job Functions
  • Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm on the phone, in virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and adapt style to suit customers.
  • Use all systems to manage the customer flow and deliver a five‑star experience.
  • Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, and meeting customers’ emotional and practical needs; include all operational checklist tasks.
  • Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously, contributing to the store’s Five‑Star Customer Service goals.
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence, escalating when necessary and partnering with the leadership team.
  • Communicate how alterations play an important role in perfecting the dress for the event, promoting all alteration services and personalization options.
  • Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting with customers on gown fit and customization.
  • Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.
  • Maintain a high standard of dress that complies with the Dress Code Policy.
  • Greet and escort all alterations customers to and from appointments.
  • Inspects all garments altered, steamed, and pressed to verify pristine condition before final delivery.
  • Respond promptly to all customer questions, providing product and service information.
  • Build long‑term relationships with customers to meet and exceed satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain inventory management by processing special orders, pickups, and ensuring first‑quality standards.
  • Ensure that alteration pricing meets company standards.
  • Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot cleaning of garments to company standards.
  • Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Support all cash wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately, celebrating the customer experience.
  • Maintain the alterations room so that it is consistently clean and well‑organized.
  • Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.
Physical Demands
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand; move throughout the store; talk to and hear customers.
  • Manual dexterity to use POS terminals, count money, steam garments, access computers, and make phone calls.
  • Manual dexterity to sew and perform fittings; lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to see up close and at a distance; use peripheral vision and depth perception; read and use computers and phones for long periods.
Education & Credentials
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.
  • Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special‑occasion production.
  • Prior experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
