Job Description & How to Apply Below

Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is hiring! We would love to find energetic, hardworking, compassionate team members to join our cultural resources team. We care about our team, and we try our best to provide an environment built on trust, expertise, gratitude, and flexibility.

We are seeking qualified Field Archaeologists for all phases of archaeological investigations on federal and state contracts on projects ongoing and upcoming nationwide. Applications for project-based work are being considered. Pay for federal contract work is based on the Service Contract Act Wage Determination applicable to the project site location. All other projects have an hourly base pay of $22.55 to $27.

Lodging and meal stipend are based on GSA or contract rates which are also according to project location. Lodging is always single occupancy and covered by ERG.

ERG is a service‑disabled veteran‑owned (SDVO), economically disadvantaged woman‑owned (EDWO) small business (SB). Founded in 2000, ERG provides environmental and cultural resources consulting services. We are a value‑driven, employee first company. We care about our team, and we take pride in providing an environment built on trust, expertise, gratitude, and flexibility.

Positions require a minimum of a B.A. in anthropology, archaeology or a related field. Experience preferred. Archaeologists will be expected to travel (time paid, no mileage) to the project location on the day fieldwork starts. Fieldwork will consist of pedestrian survey with shovel testing and unit excavation. You must be able to walk 4 to 8 miles a day for survey work, excavate shovel tests (35‑50 cm in diameter and up to 100 cm deep), screen dirt from 10‑20 cm levels through a ¼" mesh screen, and use hand‑held devices to record shovel test depth, soil characteristics and Munsell colors by level, and describe any artifacts found at each level.

Typical surveys will involve the documentation of 1 to 4 archaeological sites per project, and the ability to identify and describe pre‑contact and historic period artifacts is expected. All field staff will be expected to carry their own measuring tape (metric required), trowels, backpack, water bottles and lunch/snacks. Comfortable hiking boots and long‑sleeved shirts/pants are highly recommended. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Please submit an application, along with a current resume or vita, and three references.

Thank you and we look forward to working with you!
