Responsibilities
  • Provide all daily rehabilitative care for wildlife patients in assigned care areas, including feeding and cleaning, treatment, and monitoring patients’ progress.
  • Carry out maintenance projects at the facility and other projects assigned by Animal Care Managers.
  • Learn and implement patient protocols by species.
  • Observe animals’ condition and behavior and report to Animal Care Managers.
  • Perform patient admissions and intake exams as needed.
  • Carry out assigned releases.
  • Assist with animal admissions and patient record entries.
  • Learn wildlife conflict resolution techniques to help educate members of the public that call Wild Care for advice and guidance.
  • Update Community Liaison regarding patient updates for social media including taking photographs and video.

Job Requirements

Required

Education:

Must be currently enrolled in the Spring semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

  • Must attach Spring 2026 class schedule
  • Must have received and accepted a work study award for the Spring 2026 semester

Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in all seasons and in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk on uneven, natural terrain
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
Department Preferences
  • Studying biology, life sciences, ecology, veterinary sciences, or related field preferred
  • Wildlife rehabilitation or other animal care experience preferred
  • Rabies pre-exposure vaccination recommended but not required for work with most species
