Norman Regional Hospital ICU is a 32‑bed unit that cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions—including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. The ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award‑winning advanced stroke care and maintains a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease.

Common cardiac procedures and diagnoses seen in ICU include post‑open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life‑support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications. The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals.

• $27.84‑45.46/hr depending on previous work experience
• Evening differential: $2.50/hr
• Night differential: $3.00/hr
• Weekend differential: $3.00/hr

Comprehensive and inclusive training for new graduate RNs: 12‑week orientation with a designated preceptor.

• Assessment/reassessment:
  Systematically assesses/reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate.
• Nursing diagnosis and outcomes:
  Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate.
• Implementation and coordination of care:
  Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgment guided by current evidence‑based practice, regulations, and policy.
• Evaluation:
  Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence‑based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
• Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.

• Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required;
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

• Previous experience in healthcare field preferred.

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care and must be maintained through re‑training for the duration of employment.
• New graduates are required to complete Norman Regional’s Nurse Residency Program.
